I have been the only player on, but I am experiencing extreme lag, such that it is difficult to craft
The reign of lag continues...
... to be continued ...
ps. it makes gameplay unpleasant
I was on the server today and also noticed an increase in the amount of data being sent. The amount of network data packets was higher than usual. So this could be contributing. I frequently saw around network packet utilization of around 44-50 when i was expecting half of that to be used. I've made some tweaks and have begun the process of optimizing this by scrutinizing some recent updates. Nettles have already been removed and this had a slight reduction of the network usage. I will gauge this to try to further optimize.
Maybe try to test the server without mobs/ai, I've seen some games and servers get affected by ping when they had a lot of AI.
Minecraft for example, server named 2b2t was lagging due to large amount of mobs present when a guy made a giant mob farm
This can be Archived by making mobs/ai standstill(not move or anything like that) 25 nodes from any player and make them despawn after 50 nodes.
I'm not willing to remove mobs. I've adjusted them to be more optimal. The server performance has improved a bit. I am still keeping an eye on it. I could reduce them to despawn to 16 nodes but I felt that was too soon. I've got it set to 32 right now. I feel that the best compromise at the moment. I prefer to have it be a bit more but then I do start to notice a lot more lag when too many people are on. I have been keeping an eye on this.
