Next update is going to be converting this into a drop and play GAME instead of a modpack. @AlexGIF and I worked at getting it to work as a client hosted modpack and it was a very frustrating experience. I'll be prioritizing this first since it would allow more people access to the development and playing of this!
In the past, I've received some feedback from people about the game not easily running in single player mode. I assumed this was just due to some config files and unused mods. But that was not the case. The Minetest engine seems to handle the mod files differently in server mode vs in client/ user interface mod. Especially when managing mods with the ContentDB / mod manager.
I observed some strange behavior and errors when running the server mods in singleplayer mode on a local server. The next step seems to be to convert this modpack into a game mode. This should allow me to bake in our custom configurations, settings, and mods. The game should function mostly the same.
Originally, Sara's Simple Survival started as work meant to improve upon the default base Minetest Game that ships with Minetest. The goal was to extend that to offer a compelling survival server from the base assets. I think we are achieving that goal. However, I think the scope of this project expands past a "mod" and "modpack" by quite a large amount. For this reason, It would make sense to distribute this a game. This will also give some advantages and stability. I will be able to create an easy to distribute bundle that can redistributed and basically allow this game to be more independent and flexible.
